Year 5 Remote Learning Success
Year 5 have been working consistently hard since the beginning of the Spring Term. We have been writing persuasive texts and now we are moving on to recounts and newspaper reports. This has all been set around our Space theme topic. In maths, we have been studying multiplication and division and now we are moving on to fractions. I am sure they will be able to find some very novel ways at home to demonstrate them.
I cannot express enough how proud I am of my Year 5 class and how they have adapted to the situation around them both those in school and those working independently at home. They are always very driven and passionate about their studies, but they have shown great discipline and an exemplary work ethic this term.

Year 3 Remote Learning Success
Year 3 have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory and have had a go at creating another truly awful ticket winner to add to the story. We are also planning our own adventure stories and have created some brave and fearsome characters. What trouble will they find themselves in?

Year 1 Remote Learning Success
Year 1 have been working really hard this term. In Literacy, the children have been challenged to write their own comic strips about The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, and their own versions of the space story The Way Back Home. By the end of this term, we will be publishing our very own narratives – who would want to own their very own copy?!
In Maths, we have been using our previous knowledge of number bonds to ten to help form our number bonds to 20. We have also made a start on learning our numbers to 50 and learning how to represent these numbers in different ways, such as using bar models and part-whole models. We have been developing our reasoning skills to explain how we reached our answers.
In our Topic work, we have been learning all about Space and have made our very own moon buggies! First, we researched what materials would be suitable to use. Then, we designed and built our moon buggies and evaluated them to identify the strengths and areas of improvements of our designs.
